10 Ways You Can Have Fun and Do Good This Summer

The Grace’s Table Second Anual Week of Giving is coming up July 24-July 31, and you’re invited to participate!

One of our core values here at Grace’s Table is to Rest and Play Unapologetically, and this year we are leaning into this value for our Week of Giving. Raising money doesn’t have to be boring, and there are many different ways to inject play into supporting a good cause!

Just as we encourage the teen moms we serve to have fun in their parenting, school, and work, this year we are encouraging you to #HaveFunDoGood, and find unique ways to support Grace’s Table!

The summer is a critical time for nonprofit organizations, and we need your help to ensure that teen moms continue to have access to the critical resources they need, all year long.

Below are 10 ways that you can #HaveFunDoGood this summer in support of Grace’s Table. And remember, just because an idea isn’t on the list doesn’t mean you can’t do it! If you have other great fundraising ideas, drop them in the comments below!

Host a Boardgame Tournament

A board game tournament is a simple, affordable, easy-to-execute fundraiser that can get your team’s competitive juices flowing. Choose a game (or three!) and encourage sign-ups through a system like Evite or Eventbrite to manage registrations. Raise money for Grace’s Table by charging a “buy-in” or “registration fee” at the time of sign-up. Winners of the tournament won’t just have bragging rights, they’ll feel great about helping young families thrive!

Bake-Off

What better way to #havefundogood than with a Bake-Off (or something equally as yummy as a Chili Cook-Off). Sell tickets to the bake-off so your friends, family, and neighbors can participate in the yumminess. Have people vote for their favorite baker by dropping change into a jar with their name on it. Between ticket sales and voting proceeds, you’ll be able to help so many mamas!

Host a Cornhole Tournament

Gather the troops and get together for a good old-fashioned corn-hole tournament. Find yourself a great park, or open up your backyard for an afternoon of fun. Have players bring their own boards to cut down on costs and charge a registration fee as a way to give back to Grace’s Table. If you want to go big, www.cornholeantics.com has some great ideas for making your tournament the best it can be.

Host an Eating Competition

We like to eat at Grace’s Table, so it’s only natural that we’d suggest an event that gathers people around the table. Ok. So we’ve all seen the hot-dog eating competitions. Why not enjoy some of that jovial competition? Whether it’s hot dogs, pies, or ice cream (brain freeze!), pick something that has universal appeal to your friends and family. Consider getting your whole neighborhood involved! Whatever you do, be sure to utilize something like Evite or Eventbrite to help with registrations and selling tickets.

Step Up!

Nowadays, almost everyone has a way to track their steps, whether through their phone, Fitbit, or even their watch. You can ask your family, friends, or even your coworkers to pledge to give $1 for every 1,000 steps you take during the Week of Giving. Keep your people updated by sharing screenshots of how many steps you took each day. This is a great way to get outside and have some fun while supporting a good cause!

Run a Lemonade Stand

Who doesn’t love lemonade in the summer? Grab a cart and some glasses, and start selling! Be sure to include Grace’s Table on your lemonade stand sign, so that people know you are raising money for a good cause! At the end of the week, count up that change and donate it to support Teen Mamas! What a sweet idea.

Bake Sale

Grab your friends, family, and community members and encourage them to put on their chef’s hats and get out the cupcake foils. It’s time to bake to support teen mamas! Choose a location for hosting your bake sale, like a church or your backyard. You can even host the sale virtually on a platform like Facebook and have buyers pick up baked goods. Hearts and bellies will be full with this fundraiser.

Host a Pancake Breakfast

Who doesn’t love pancakes? Choose a location and get to cooking. This is a great event to run open house style, where guests can come and go as they please, and eat as many pancakes as they want. Ask for a minimum donation like $10 as an “entrance fee”. Make sure your guests know you are collecting donations ahead of time, and utilize your family and friends to help make sure the event runs smoothly!

Run a Bottle and Can Drive

Do you have neighbors with bottles and cans piling up in their garage? Offer to take them to the bottle return! Collect as many bottles and cans as you can from your neighbors and friends, and then donate the returns to Grace’s Table! Not only does this help Teen Mamas, but it helps the planet, too!

Bring a Meal to Grace’s Table

A few times a week, our mamas gather around our table to share a meal, learn something new and connect with one another. We are always looking for volunteers to cook and serve meals. Grab your family and friends and sign up to bring a meal here: Meals For Grace\'s Table via Take Them A Meal. It’s a great way to have fun with one another and nourish our Mamas!

Whatever you choose to do, we can’t wait to see how you #HaveFunDoGood during the Grace’s Table Week of Giving! Don’t forget to drop your creative fundraising ideas in the comments below.
