Welcoming Lois!
Lois Roelse started at Grace's Table recently as a program assistant. She will work directly with all our volunteers and program team to ensure every Grace's Table program runs smoothly. A typical day for Lois will include a lot of tracking and scheduling, building relationships with volunteers, and making sure mamas and kiddos have what they need. She is excited about making a direct difference in a mama's life. Lois feels like she is making some social difference in the world, which she had done a little bit through volunteering, but now can do in a much more direct and accomplished way.
Lois received her bachelor's degree at Taylor University in Sociology. She later received her Master's in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. She recently retired after working at Steelcase for the last 15 years but decided to apply for a position at Grace's Table because she was not content to sit around. Lois is someone who really likes to move, and is even tap dancing in the Arts in Motion Christmas program this year!
She has an adult daughter with down syndrome who is the center of her life! As her daughter's biggest advocate, Lois always asks questions, learns new things, and deals with lots of frustration. Her daughter recently transitioned to living on her own, so being at Grace's Table is a good way for Lois to pass the time.
A superpower that Lois would love to have is relentless energy! That way, she would be able to do everything. Her favorite way to spend a day off is to go on a walk or hike! She also enjoys reading, knitting, and watching British T.V.
We are excited to have Lois join the team and be a part of Grace’s Table! She has a great sense of humor and a huge heart with lots of love to give! Welcome to the team, Lois!
